We had a crazy time at the Rogers household, last week. We woke up last Monday morning to rain coming through our bedroom ceiling. And it just continued...the pool cover quit working, again and the pool won't keep all the water. (I know I should be grateful to have a pool and I am!) Let's see what else...Wednesday Morning, we set the ADT house alarm off trying to fix the smoke alarm and scared the daylights out of Benjamin.
We did have a good day, Thursday. Annie and the boys came over and we went swimming at the Country Club. Benjamin loves Curtis and Conner. After we swam and he took his nap...he asked "Where are my friends, Conner and Curtis?". I am so thankful for our friends. (When we left the pool, my car wouldn't start....but it all worked out.)
And to finish the week, we woke up-- this morning at 5:30am, to a smoke alarm beeping. We couldn't find it and played a game of chase the "beep" around the house, for 45 minutes.
And.....I got stung by a wasp--I was trying to kill, in the house.
And.....the stock market had a terrible week.
I know, I know...it's all fixable--and it doesn't help that I am a little high strung. (or maybe a lot high strung?!) I am learning....I am a slow learner...but I know that God is in control. But, isn't like us to try to take control? And don't we fail miserably?
I am encouraged and challenged after a day in church. Bro. Scott spoke bold truth about our passion or lack of passion for God, His Word, and our ministry. I admit--my mind wonders in church, at times...but, not today. We returned to church, tonight, to hear Ricky speak. He challenged us, as parents, to teach and model truth to our children within a liberal culture. I can't do justice in my explanation of either of these church services. Our family is blessed to be part of church with pastors who speak truth and teach us the Word, when it's not popular in our world.
Here's hoping we avoid the leaky ceiling, car problems, and "beeps" at our house, this week. Mostly, I hope I will trust God to be in control.
