Thankful on a Thursday.

Today, I am thankful for my parents. I am thankful that they love us. My mom and dad would do anything for any of us.
My mom is a good friend. She is funny and fun to be with. She is giving and loving. My dad is a rock. He is strong and protective. He gives good advice and is solid in his faith. I am mostly thankful that they taught my sister, brother and I to love the Lord. While growing up, we never missed a church service. Thank you, Mom and Dad.

My sister

Happy Birthday to my sister, Tracy. Her birthday is October 20th--so, I am a little bit behind getting these pictures posted. We were able to spend her birthday dinner with her. After dinner we went to Maggie Moo's for some cake and ice cream. Benjamin really wanted to get his Aunt T-a balloon for her birthday. He picked a Thomas the train balloon-of course. We also celebrated our niece, Hailey's 1st birthday. She is blessed to share a birthday with my sister.

I am proud to be Tracy's little sister for many many reasons....but here are just a few:

  • she is kind
  • she his very thoughtful and giving
  • she is funny
  • she loves my children
  • she has always excepted Allen and treats him like a brother
  • she is smart and works very hard
  • she was lots of fun to grow up with...well, most of the time. She did used to make me lay down, in the front seat of her car, to make sure nobody saw me with her.
  • she is proud of me and she always reminds me
  • she is strong and dependable
  • she is modest and is probably embarrassed by this birthday tribute.

Happy Birthday, Tracy!

The power of Lightening McQueen.

Benjamin has never had any interest in Spaghettios....until now. Many times I tried to get him to eat canned pasta...I tried several different brands, even my favorite organic brand, Annie's. He wouldn't have anything to do with any of them...he would only smell it and say "I don't like it." And then while shopping at Wal-Mart, Benjamin spotted Lightening McQueen. He promised he would eat the "Lightening" Spaghettios.

He not only ate the Spaghettios, he finished the whole can over the next three meals. The power of marketing to kids is a crazy thing.

Thankful on a Thursday.

Today, I am thankful for friends. Specifically for my friend, Annie. Annie and I met when we were 9 years old. We met on the 1st day of school, in the 4th grade. Our parents moved into town with our families to work. Annie's family moved from Nashville, AR. We moved from Enid, OK. We were the "new girls" at our school, which wasn't easy in a small town. She had the prettiest curly hair that I had ever seen. Perhaps, because all the other girls had their "friends" or maybe because we had several things in common...but whatever the reason...we became instant friends. I am so thankful that we did.

I am thankful because she would do anything for me or my family. She loves my children. Benjamin refers to her as "Annie Mama". After high school, we didn't always live in the same place and didn't always call as much as we should have. I am just thankful that we are in the same place, right now. We are able to see one another, often. I can only hope to be a kind of friend she has taught me to be.

A Beautiful Day.

Yesterday, the weather was perfect. Benjamin, Georgia-Kate and I spent some time outside. Benjamin was playing with his basketball and I took advantage of the time to snap a few pictures. I hope you are enjoying the season as much as we are.

Thankful on a Thursday

Today is Thursday and for no particular reason, I feel Thankful. I am thankful to have a family.

Allen: Despite all the chaos with the economy, Allen still works hard. He is excited to be with the Benjamin and Georgia-Kate, and is eager to help them while he is home. I am thankful for all the ways he loves us.

Benjamin: As he grows, Benjamin is so curious. He wants to learn about anything and everything. He is a sweet boy. I am thankful for his sweet spirit.

Georgia-Kate: Even as she is teething, Georgia-Kate is the best little girl. She rarely fusses and she is a great sleeper. I am thankful that God blessed us with Georgia-Kate.

Why are you thankful?

My favorite time of year...

Fall is my favorite season. I love all the pumpkins, the cool breeze, the beautiful colors, and the smell of cinnamon. Isn't it really amazing that God gave us different seasons. Perhaps, He did it to remind us that he created all the things around us. In your our busy day, filled with our schedules, the upcoming elections, and the crazy economy...may we be still and be reminded of our blessings.
